Why VCU EM: The sense of community. You can tell immediately that the people here genuinely care about each other and their patients. On top of that, you get incredible training in an awesome city!

Favorite thing to do in RVA: Eat. There are so many great restaurants scattered throughout the city. This is closely followed by brewery hopping, spending time at the river, and frequently losing at trivia.

Best kept RVA secret: I don't really think it's much of a secret if you live here, but there are festivals for literally everything. Jazz, watermelon, wine, Oktoberfest... you name it, there's probably a festival.

Fun fact: My doctor declared me legally deaf around age four, but no one had noticed because I figured out how to lip read. (Fortunately, I have perfect hearing now, but have sadly lost the ability to read lips.)
