Why VCU EM: VCU is where my grandfather trained so it has been part of my family and upbringing from the beginning. It feels surreal that I am standing in some of the very places he stood during his residency. I was drawn to the palpable family dynamic with attendings who serve as the greatest teachers and role models and a team dynamic that can't be beat. We are constantly working to enhance the interprofessional aspects of emergency medicine to improve patient care.
Favorite thing to do in RVA: Richmond has so many beautiful parks where my husband and I enjoy walking our dogs. The most shocking was Byrd park, a beautiful, vast green area with multiple lakes where you forget that you are in the middle of the city. Another must check out spot is Three Lakes Park.
Best kept RVA secret: Richmond is a not so hidden (smack dab in the middle of 95) hidden gem! There is a diverse food scene, and so many outdoor activities from the James river to hiking trails and not far from the beach. We love RVA!
Fun fact: I sang with my choir in the Sistine Chapel
